Legion 40

Ok so I'm pretty sure Legion 40 came out today so here's a little preview. I tried something a little different this issue and really went for that traditional panel layouts and not too many bleeds at all (similar to my work on Sept Guerrieres). I'm not quite sure if I pulled it off right since it feels like a bit of the dynamics of my art was toned down and that was one of the things I really wanted to infuse into this book. Hopefully in the future I'll have a better balance of both. On a side note the colors of Sept Guerrieres were finished last week so I'll post some of that on here soon!

ahhh wow! i just got this today! i'm so happy! i love the issues that are mostly them just interacting and I think you drew it very well! i think you filled up the pages very nicely with great details! i think my favorite page is the one with garth's bedroom! awesome things: 1) garth has socks everywhere! 2) garth sleeps naked! 3) seeing him zipping up his uniform, i really like seeing the uniforms messed up or unzipped a little because it reminds us that they're actually clothing and not painted on! 4) jo playing with chameleon, and cham's antenna being messed up on the next page.

i really loved how you drew brainiac 5 in this! he looks very cute and his body language is great! i like in general how you make the boys have different sizes and body types (lyle and brainiac aren't crazy buff like garth, and garth's not as stocky as colossal boy, etc). i know it much be hard keeping them consistant, but you do a really nice job!

another small thing, i thought giselle's parents, even though they were just there for a second, were very nicely done with unique outfits!

I'll second the above comment. I didn't find this issue visually lacking in any respect. With you having pointed it out, I can see how the layouts were a bit more traditional than previous issues...and that seems like a good choice. The Legion book is already unconventional in many ways, with a constant stream of new characters coming in every issue, along with new alien races, new settings, new planets. Getting too unconventional with the storytelling could turn the book into an unreadable mess, but instead you accomplish everything veryvery just said. I wasn't reading this book before you and Jim took over; it was possible for me to jump right in and follow everything that happened without the slightest bit of confusion even though these aren't the Legion I grew up reading. With all due respect to J. Shooter, this lack of confusion and instant engagement with the characters is equally due to the strength of your storytelling.
